Density: The density of stainless steel H steel is generally around 7.7-8.0g/cm³, similar to other stainless steel materials. For example, the density of common 304 stainless steel H steel is about 7.93g/cm³. This density requires that its weight be considered in mass estimation and structural design.
Strength characteristics
Tensile strength: With high tensile strength, the tensile strength of 304 stainless steel H steel can usually reach more than 500MPa. This makes it perform well in application scenarios such as building structures and mechanical frames that bear tensile forces. – Yield strength: The yield strength is generally greater than 200MPa, which ensures that plastic deformation will not easily occur under a certain pressure, and can effectively maintain the stability of the structure.
Hardness: The Rockwell hardness (HRC) is generally around 80-90. This hardness makes it have good wear resistance and is more suitable for some structures that need to resist friction and wear.
Thermal conductivity: The thermal conductivity is relatively low, about 12 – 30W/(m·K), which gives it a certain insulation advantage in high temperature environments, such as reducing heat conduction in the supporting structure around the industrial furnace.
Magnetic properties: Some stainless steel H steels (such as martensitic stainless steel H steels) are magnetic, while austenitic stainless steel H steels (such as 304) are usually non-magnetic or weakly magnetic. This feature needs to be noted in some applications that are sensitive to magnetic fields (such as structures near electronic equipment).
Ductility: It has good ductility and can be made into various complex shapes through rolling, bending and other processing methods to meet different architectural and mechanical structure design requirements.
Corrosion resistance: It contains chromium, which can form a dense chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) protective film on its surface. It has good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere, fresh water and other environments. 316 stainless steel H steel contains molybdenum, which has stronger corrosion resistance in environments containing chloride ions (such as seawater) and highly corrosive chemical media.
Antioxidation: It can maintain good antioxidation performance under high temperature environment. Within a certain temperature range, the protective film on its surface can prevent oxygen from further oxidizing the internal metal, such as resisting oxidation in the support structure of high-temperature pipelines.
Chemical stability: It is relatively stable in general chemical environments and will not react violently with common chemicals (such as organic acids in food and some mild chemical reagents in chemical production), so it is widely used in the fields of food processing equipment frames and chemical equipment brackets.
