Physical and chemical properties:

1. Physical properties

Density: The density of stainless steel angle steel is related to its composition, generally around 7.7 – 8.0g/cm³. For example, the density of the common 304 stainless steel angle steel is about 7.93g/cm³, which makes it of great reference value in application scenarios such as mass calculation and load-bearing structure design.

Hardness: The hardness of stainless steel angle steel varies depending on the material and processing method. Its Rockwell hardness (HRC) is generally around 80 – 90. The higher hardness makes it advantageous in some structures that require wear resistance and deformation resistance, such as being able to withstand a certain amount of pressure without deformation in the supporting frame of a building.

Strength: It has high strength, including tensile strength and yield strength. For example, the tensile strength of 304 stainless steel angle steel can reach more than 500MPa, and the yield strength is greater than 205MPa, which makes it suitable for building structures, mechanical frames and other occasions that withstand greater tension and pressure.

Thermal conductivity: The thermal conductivity is relatively low, about 12 – 30W/(m·K), which is more advantageous in situations where heat insulation is required. For example, in the support structure of high-temperature equipment, it can reduce heat conduction and protect surrounding components or the environment.

Magnetism: Some stainless steel angles (such as martensitic stainless steel angles) are magnetic, while austenitic stainless steel angles (such as 304) are usually non-magnetic or weakly magnetic. This feature needs to be considered in some application scenarios that require magnetism, such as support structures around electronic equipment.

Ductility: It has good ductility and can be made into various shapes through forging, rolling and other processing methods, which is convenient for structural assembly and modeling design in the fields of construction, machinery, etc.

2. Chemical properties

Corrosion resistance: Stainless steel angles contain chromium, which can form a dense protective film of chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) on its surface. This makes it have good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere, fresh water, seawater and other environments. For example, 316 stainless steel angle steel has stronger corrosion resistance in environments containing chloride ions (such as seawater) and some highly corrosive chemical media due to the molybdenum element.

Antioxidation: In high temperature environments, stainless steel angle steel can maintain good antioxidation properties. Within a certain temperature range, the protective film on its surface can prevent oxygen from further oxidizing the internal metal. For example, in the supporting structure of an industrial furnace, it can withstand high-temperature oxidation without being rapidly corroded.

Chemical stability: In general chemical environments, stainless steel angle steel is relatively stable and will not react violently with common chemicals (such as organic acids in food and some mild chemical reagents in chemical production), so it is widely used in the fields of food processing equipment frames and chemical equipment brackets.
