1. Physical properties

Density: The density of stainless steel threaded rods is generally around 7.7 – 8.0g/cm³, and stainless steels of different compositions will have slightly different densities. For example, the density of 304 stainless steel threaded rods is about 7.93g/cm³. In practical applications, this property is more important for mass and weight-related calculations.

Hardness: The hardness is relatively high, and the Rockwell hardness (HRC) is usually between 70 and 90, which allows it to resist deformation and ensure stability during connection and tightening, such as being able to withstand greater tightening forces in mechanical structure connections.

Strength:Tensile strength: With good tensile strength, the tensile strength of most stainless steel threaded rods can reach more than 500MPa. This allows it to withstand greater tensile forces, such as the parts used to withstand tensile forces in building structure connections.

Yield strength: The yield strength is usually greater than 200MPa, and it is not easy to undergo plastic deformation when subjected to a certain pressure, ensuring structural safety.

Magnetism: Magnetism varies depending on the type of stainless steel. Austenitic stainless steel (such as 304) is generally non-magnetic or weakly magnetic, and martensitic stainless steel is magnetic. This should be noted in application scenarios where magnetism is required (such as near electronic equipment).

Ductility: It has good ductility and an elongation of about 40%, which makes it easy to form during processing (such as cold heading and rolling), and it is not easy to break when subjected to external forces, and has toughness.

2. Chemical properties

Corrosion resistance: It contains chromium (generally the chromium content is above 12%), and chromium forms a dense chromium oxide (Cr₂O�3) protective film on the surface. It has good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere, fresh water, and weak alkaline environments. 316 stainless steel threaded rods contain molybdenum, which makes them more corrosion-resistant in chloride-containing environments (such as seawater) and highly corrosive media, and are suitable for connecting parts of marine engineering and chemical equipment.

Antioxidation: It can maintain good antioxidation performance at high temperatures, because the surface oxide film prevents oxygen from reacting with internal metals within a certain temperature range, such as in the application of industrial furnace connection bolts.

Chemical stability: It is relatively stable in general chemical environments and will not react violently with common chemicals (such as organic acids in food and mild reagents in chemical production). It is widely used in connecting parts of food processing equipment and chemical equipment.
